Bach Kammerchor Tokyo 〜 Profile

Bach Chamber choir Tokyo

 

 

Established in 1978 by initiative of conductor Mitsuyoshi Katayama.Active with wide range of repertoire from the Gregorian Chants to the modern and contemporary mainly of Church music.Have performed in collaboration with Tokyo Solisten at their subscription concerts enjoying favourable reputation.

Started in 2004 the concert series titled  “A Path Lit by Music”

   

In the year of 2017,conductor Katayama ended his life.

The choir succeed his life work and continue their own musical activities.

Mitsuyoshi Katayama ( conductor / founder of Bach kammerchor Tokyo ) (1952-2017)

 

 

Started conducting the mixed chorus while begin a student at Tokyo Science University.

After graduation learned conducting at Tokyo College of Music under the direction of Pf.Koichiro Maeda,and also leaned Musicology under Fr.Peter Nemeshegyi S.J. at Sophia University.Took extended study of conducting under Mr.Hermuth Rilling as well as interpretation of cantata at Japan Bach Academy.Continued study in Dusserdolf and Wien under Mr.Niel Varon and Mr.Erwin Acel,specifically,besides learning the Latin language by Mr.Eiji Matsumoto.

Though having experienced a hard time caused by brain(infarction) disease,restarted career as conductor through music-orientate re-habilitation,that was conducting,and back as leader/

conductor of Bach Kammerchor Tokyo.

Nao Hirose ( soprano / vocal trainer )

Was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Vocal Performance with distinction from the Faculty of Early Music at the Royal College of Music, London, in 2002. The following year she was also awarded an Advanced Diploma, and again graduated with distinction. 

Since graduating, she has given recitals as a soloist both in Britain and abroad, performing with various ensembles in Britain and Europe. As a soloist, she won an Honourable Mention at the Eighteenth International Early Music Competition in Yamanashi 2004. 

With the ensemble, La Sfera Musicale, she won top prize at the Eighteenth International Early Music Competition in Yamanashi 2005, and earned Honourable Mention at the Bruges International Early Music Competition in 2006.

Since retuning to Japan Nao Hirose has performed in Handel's Messiah, Alexander’s Feast, Acis and Galatea(Galatea), Alcina(Oberto), Jephtha(Iphis) and Saul(Merab), Bach’s St John Passion and B minor Mass, Purcell’s Dido and Aneas(1st Witch) and Fairly Queen(Spring and 1st Fairly), Mozart’s Mass in C Minor and Exsultate Jubilate, as well as in various concerts of music by Dowland, Monteverdi, Charpentier, Vivaldi, Telemann, Buxtehude.

She has released the CD “Baroque Dialogues” with La Sfera Musicale, “Acis and Galatea” (Galatea) and her solo album “Mizu-no-kioku Sola-no-kioku”.

 

 

 

Hisae Hosokawa ( organist )

Graduated and complieted the graduate studies at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.Also graduated from Conservatoir d’Orsay and La Schola Cantorum in Paris,obtained 1er prix.Studied Organ with M.Akimoto, R.Shimada,   M.Chapuis,et A.Isoir.

While in France,joind organ academies in France and Italy,and several concerts in France.

Also in Japan,many concerts of solo,ensemble,with chorus and orchestra.

Started own recital series in 2001 collaborating with the other performing arts.

The performance of 4th recital was accredited in the Arts Festival 2005 of the Agency for Cultural Affairs,and also the 8th recital in Mois de la France 2012 in Yokohama.

Organizer of <Lumiere,Vent et Son>Nouvelle expression de l’orgue’since 2001.

Organist of Bach kammerchor Tokyo since 2004.
